The entire process of living in Zimbabwe is somewhat of a risk at the current time, so you may envision that there would be little desire for visiting Zimbabwe’s casinos. In fact, it seems to be functioning the other way around, with the desperate market circumstances creating a bigger desire to bet, to attempt to locate a fast win, a way out of the difficulty.

For almost all of the citizens subsisting on the abysmal nearby wages, there are two dominant styles of betting, the state lottery and Zimbet. As with practically everywhere else on the globe, there is a state lottery where the probabilities of winning are extremely small, but then the jackpots are also extremely large. It’s been said by economists who study the concept that the majority do not buy a ticket with a real belief of winning. Zimbet is centered on either the local or the UK soccer divisions and involves predicting the results of future matches.

Zimbabwe’s casinos, on the other hand, pander to the very rich of the state and sightseers. Up till a short while ago, there was a considerably big tourist business, centered on safaris and trips to Victoria Falls. The market woes and associated bloodshed have cut into this market.

Among Zimbabwe’s gambling halls, there are two in the capital, Harare, the Carribea Bay Resort and Casino, which has five gaming tables and slots, and the Plumtree Casino, which has only slot machines. The Zambesi Valley Hotel and Entertainment Center in Kariba also has just one armed bandits. Mutare contains the Monclair Hotel and Casino and the Leopard Rock Hotel and Casino, both of which contain gaming tables, slot machines and video poker machines, and Victoria Falls houses the Elephant Hills Hotel and Casino and the Makasa Sun Hotel and Casino, each of which has video poker machines and tables.

In addition to Zimbabwe’s casinos and the previously mentioned lottery and Zimbet (which is considerably like a pools system), there is a total of 2 horse racing complexes in the country: the Matabeleland Turf Club in Bulawayo (the second municipality) and the Borrowdale Park in Harare.

Given that the market has diminished by beyond 40% in recent years and with the associated poverty and crime that has arisen, it is not known how well the vacationing industry which funds Zimbabwe’s casinos will do in the near future. How many of them will survive till conditions get better is simply unknown.
