The confirmed number of Kyrgyzstan gambling dens is a fact in some dispute. As details from this country, out in the very remote central part of Central Asia, can be hard to achieve, this may not be all that difficult to believe. Regardless if there are 2 or three legal gambling dens is the item at issue, perhaps not really the most earth-shaking bit of information that we do not have.

What no doubt will be credible, as it is of most of the ex-Soviet nations, and absolutely true of those in Asia, is that there certainly is a good many more not approved and backdoor casinos. The change to authorized gambling did not encourage all the former casinos to come out of the dark and become legitimate. So, the bickering regarding the total amount of Kyrgyzstan’s gambling dens is a tiny one at best: how many legal ones is the item we’re attempting to reconcile here.

We know that located in Bishkek, the capital municipality, there is the Casino Las Vegas (a remarkably original name, don’t you think?), which has both table games and slots. We will also see both the Casino Bishkek and the Xanadu Casino. The two of these contain 26 slot machines and 11 gaming tables, separated amidst roulette, blackjack, and poker. Given the remarkable likeness in the sq.ft. and layout of these 2 Kyrgyzstan casinos, it may be even more surprising to find that the casinos are at the same address. This seems most difficult to believe, so we can likely conclude that the list of Kyrgyzstan’s gambling halls, at least the accredited ones, is limited to 2 casinos, 1 of them having changed their title not long ago.

The state, in common with the majority of the ex-Soviet Union, has experienced something of a fast change to capitalistic system. The Wild East, you could say, to reference the lawless ways of the Wild West an aeon and a half back.

Kyrgyzstan’s gambling dens are in fact worth checking out, therefore, as a piece of anthropological research, to see dollars being gambled as a type of civil one-upmanship, the absolute consumption that Thorstein Veblen talked about in nineteeth century u.s..
